I would love to do all of this inside of Dropbox, but the risk of duplication and accidental deletion is too great, with too many points of access to the file tree. Remember syncing data is not the same as backing up data and the backup feature on the Synology stinks. In facts, the backup task conflicts with the sync task. I too am working with huge video files, and, having been spoiled for years on Dropbox's highly intelligent backend, underestimated the difficulties of syncing a drive to the cloud. Select whether to sync bidirectionally, or only download data from your Synology NAS. Synology provides a service called Cloud Station to synchronize data between your clients (Smartphone, PC, Notebook, Tablet etc.) and your NAS. Cloud Station Drive (client) Cloud Station on SRM and the DS cloud app will continue to be available and will receive security updates. Select the folders you want synchronized on your Synology NAS and on your computer by clicking the the Edit icons.
You can click the search icon on the right to search for IPs within your LAN.
I got naively started with CloudSync (Synology's app that offers basic syncing with Dropbox) and I too would LOVE this feature. Apwill be the date we're officially discontinuing the Cloud Station family of applications on DSM. Enter the address for the Synology NAS running Cloud Station (or QuickConnect ID), username, and password.
